Just in case you haven't been following the news, Europe is on the verge of war with Russia and China is looking at taking advantage of the situation and seeing if they can take back Taiwan.
Both Russia and China are making claims that the nations they are looking at taking over are already their nation and that the governments there are illegitimate.

The last military draft the US had was December 1972 with it officially ending in 1973. The last few wars the US has fought without a draft, but if we get pulled into a conflict with either of these nations or both of them, the draft will most likely be reinstated to provide enough manpower.
People think there is a shortage of goods now, wait if we go to war.
NATO announced Monday that it will send fighter jets and ships to eastern Europe as tension with the alliance and Russia hit a fever pitch due to the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Denmark will sail a frigate to the Baltic Sea and send four F-16 fighter jets to Lithuania. Spain is also sending ships to join NATO naval forces in the region and is considering sending fighter jets to Bulgaria, the statement read. France said it is willing to send troops to Romania, and the Netherlands also said it will send two F-35 fighter aircraft to Bulgaria in April. The moves come as tension in the region is increasing by the day.

China launched 39 aircraft, mostly fighter jets, near Taiwan Sunday — the largest show of force in months. The launch came the same day the U.S. Navy sailed two aircraft carriers along with a pair of amphibious assault ships alongside allies in the Philippine Sea.

Russia’s top diplomat on Wednesday promised to take appropriate measures if the West’s response to Moscow’s security demands is not found to be constructive.
The U.S. agreed with Russia that it would answer questions regarding NATO's military presence in the region. The Kremlin has accused the West of a military expansion that raises security concerns for Moscow, Reuters reported. The report said Ukraine had no objections to the U.S. responses.
"If we do not receive a constructive answer from the west on our security demands, Moscow will take appropriate measures," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a statement, Reuters reported.

Frankly, there are no guarantees that can be given or that would work.
1. By no measure is Russia a stable country, politically, socially, economically or legally. It has constant civil wars, coup attempts and corruption that far surpasses that of the US. It has actual and not hypothetical civil wars and war lords running parts of the country. Making promises to Russia or to the current ruler doesn't make that country any more stable than it is.
2. The US and the the eastern European militaries in place are no match, on the ground (forget the b.s. about bombers and nuclear weapons) to fight a Russian Army. Read IN PLACE! Sending some jeeps from Italy in a caravan to Poland does not count as IN PLACE.
3. Promises are meaningless in the long run - most people know that. Promises made today are broken tomorrow, routinely.
4. Yes, Mr. Putin's popularity has plunged. So what? Does it mean that he needs a public capitulation for a "win"? Does he need a quick invasion and no response for a "win"? Dig deeper! Germany has forbidden the transfer of German sniper rifles and German made artillery to the Ukraine because it wants Russian gas supplies. Just another group of politicians wanting to kick a can down the road - German version of 1930s British appeasement?
5. If Mr. Biden wanted a serious deterrent, he would only have to do the following simple things:
a. immediately purchase and send to the Ukraine 100,000 scoped rifles with ammunition and US sniper trainers and distribute the rifles to civilians;
b. send the equivalent of 1,000,000 panzerfausts
c. send 1 million stick grenades
d. Tell the Russians that this time, the Ukrainians will be given satellite information on Russian forces in real time, not with a delay.
During the Vietnam War a UCLA assistant professor came up with a novel solution to end the war cheaply: give every Vietnam resident over the age of 16 an M1 Garand, 100 rounds of ammunition, 100 pounds of rice and pig. When you have deal with people on an individual level and not from an armchair, you become more reasonable.
