Precision Rimfire Fun

Post by Ronin.45 »

I've tried a few KYL matches this year. KYL stands for Know Your Limits which is a type of gong rack that gets smaller as you go from left to right. They hang a rack at 50 and 100 yards. 50 goes from 2" all the way down to 1/4" in 8 steps. 100 goes from 4" down to 1" in 7 steps. It's only 15rds total, but those little buggers can be elusive. The points go up as the size goes down so you can leave a bunch of points behind if you miss. You start on the biggest and your run is over if you miss one. Losing all the points for it and the ones you didn't get too. Very interesting match format, but perfect for a new precision shooter like myself. I've been to 2 events now. Once a few months ago and again today. My first time out, I did pretty well at 100 going 6/7, but shanked my 4th shot at 50 so only ended up with 410 points if I recall correctly. Today went much better. I cleaned all 15 for a perfect 1000 points. Calm wind helped a lot and my gun was shooting great.
Can't wait to try again next month. Hopefully I don't get double booked again and have to skip a few like the last ones.

That sounds fun as well as challenging. What were you using?
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot weather this storm". The warrior replies, "I am the storm".
