Every state has an unclaimed property fund. The monies end up there when escrows close, insurance reimbursements are not cashed, and so forth. I found a few thousand dollars tonight in my state. Some of it was estate money for relatives that died a number of years ago. So take a few minutes to find your state fund and plug in your name and that of your relatives.
I have lived at the same address for many years and check my own name once a year. Found some money tonight.

Re: Reminder
I didn't know that, very good information to learn.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.
Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot weather this storm". The warrior replies, "I am the storm".

Re: Reminder
I mention it because so many members are selling houses, changing insurance carriers, experiencing losses in their families.
The escrow company that handles the sale of your home has no incentive to run a search on you at its expense to find you when you moved.
The insurance company that sent you a reimbursement check that you misplaced (me) has no obligation to keep sending replacement checks.
My dad died 13 yeas ago. Who has "the obligation" to send you any after found money? The probate court? The overpaid hospital? Heck, one of my brothers moved and forget that he had bank account.
