Guns are back! / Small 9's

Post by Bob »

So, I went to an LGS today (Take AIm for locals)

It was FULL of guns!!!!
LCP's: Regular and Flag graphics, Crimson Trace ones too. Held a couple. I just can't do that tiny little grip.
EC9's: In black, or a cool Stainless/grey. Held that. $299...Mmmm
Max 9: Very nice!
SCCY: A few flavors, but the grip feels awesome and the Crimson Trace Red Dot is pretty cool. $329
Held a Glock 43...I'll stick with my Walther PPS - still, same sort of thing

Ammo, unfortunately, still #30 for 50 rds of 9mm.

So what are you going to get?

If I didn’t have the P365 I’d be interested in the Ruger Max 9.

Check out Gas & Brass armory on Florida Ave. Normally good prices.

I have to say...The SIlver & Grey SCCY w/ Red Dot was pretty nice!

But the Vegas Raiders-esque Black & Grey EC9 was pretty nice too.

I'm not a big red dot guy personally. Of the two I'd go with the EC9. I already know and trust that platform. I'd personally prefer the LC9s because you can change out to night sights. And like I said above, if I wasn't already invested in the P365 series I'd take a hard look at the Max 9. That's not to say anything negative about the SCCY. I just have no personal experience with them beyond the one I got in trade that I never shot. Seemed fine. They're made in Daytona and IIRC have a lifetime warranty.

@Bob

If it's of interest, Rural King has the P365X on sale

https://www.rkguns.com/sig-sauer-p365x ... 07-04+Gotw

This is the P365 slide on the XL frame so it's a 12+1 round pistol.

And I noticed they also have the Taurus G3 on sale for $259. That's what I bought mine for last year about this time. Frankly that G3 has been pretty awesome. It's not a small 9 but if you (or anyone) is looking for a spare full size 9mm that is inexpensive...there you go. I reviewed the G3 here in the Defense section in detail if anyone's interested.

Mine has been a good pistol.

If you're looking for a full size spare 9mm then the G3 is the better deal. If you shot it with your eyes closed you'd think it was a Glock, except the trigger dingus is thicker and more comfortable. Probably something Glock should do since some folks complain a Glock trigger hurts their finger on a long range day. The Taurus is actually a more comfortable shooting pistol. Comes with a 15 and 17 round mag.

The EC9 is an excellent pistol. Same as an LC9s except the sights are milled. In normal times I'd say $299 is too high compared to what they were when they came out. But if you want it, get it.

Sportsman Warehouse has the EC9s for $269, Rural King has them for $249.

And FYI, Ruger sells some guns directly to certified instructors. The EC9s instructor price is $211. I remember seeing them BC (before covid) for less than $200. I think the instructor price back then was $180.
