MSRP $499. So street price may be in the upper $300's or lower $400's if they're smart and want to flood the market.
I'm glad to see another manufacturer jump into the micro 9 end of the pool. This makes for more competition which in the end benefits the consumer. We'll see how it fairs during the first 6 months to a year and let the beta testers give it the once over.
I quite liked the LC9 and LC9s. Great triggers, light, thin and decent capacity. Only reason I went with the P365 was the night sights and capacity options. If this model earns a good tract record then it will likely be a strong contender.
So a little thicker than the LC9s, probably in the frame for the most part. Capacity of 10 or 12 rounds is more than respectable. Optic ready. Sights are already available on the market. Ruger is doing things right from the start. If it shows itself to be reliable and less expensive than the competition it should do extremely well.

Re: Ruger Max 9
It's not surprising to see more companies trying to play in this category. Especially when it can be accomplished with a slightly wider frame and new magazine. The new Shield is a bit bigger so it's more G43x/365xl competition.
Re: Ruger Max 9
It’s become a wildly popular segment of the market. So it’s not a surprise more companies are looking for a slice of the pie.
It would be interesting to see a comparison on the number of micro and sub-compacts sold compared to full sized pistols.

Re: Ruger Max 9
I carried a Keltec P11 for many years. It was the first pocket 9 and had a 10/12 round capacity. I only stopped carrying it because the LC9 I won had a little better trigger. I think the double stack, striker fired pocket pistol (Hellcat, etc) is the new market.
And...Sportsman's Warehouse had them in stock (order online, pickup in store) for $489.99. So much for the "street price" discount of $100 we've come to expect. Not in this day and age.

8 months later and it's only dropped 20 bucks. I just saw them several places for $469. Still like the idea of the Max 9 since I was a fan of the LC9 series. I'm too heavily invested in the Sigs to go that route, but for someone, maybe Bob, it may be a good way to go for a Micro 9.

Ky gun co has the Max9 for 399, pre black Friday sale.https://www.kygunco.com/product/ruger-3 ... ual-safetyDavid wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 7:34 pm8 months later and it's only dropped 20 bucks. Still too much for my blood. I really have no need for one but I might be a player for $100 less.
Re: Ruger Max 9
It might happen...eventually. At one time the S&W Shield could be had for less than $250 new. So although prices are still up there at this point in time, at some point it will come back down into a market that is saturated with single stack and micro 9mm's. So I'd expect competition for a slice of the pie to get fierce. Might not be next week, next month or next year. But at some point I suspect it will be.Mac66 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 12:44 pmKy gun co has the Max9 for 399, pre black Friday sale.https://www.kygunco.com/product/ruger-3 ... ual-safetyDavid wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 7:34 pm8 months later and it's only dropped 20 bucks. Re: Ruger Max 9
Does the Max 9 remind anyone else of something similar?
Like, maybe, this?
I know it's not anywhere close to the first time Ruger's done something like this, and it was enough of a validation of the Taurus design to get me to buy one.
A Taurus G3c, that is!
I appreciate Ruger's endorsement: the Taurus (actually, two of them) that I bought as a result of Ruger's Max9 coming out has proven to be a great gun. I'm sure the Ruger will, too.

There is a guy on Glock Talk that would call you an idiot because you like Taurus. And he would tell you what a POS the Taurus G3 is. Now he's never actually even held one in his hands let alone shot one. But he can post videos of Taurus pistols that are no longer made that had an issue as proof positive that the new pistols from Taurus won't work.
Of course he has to ignore all the posts from other members that have that pistol and love it and have been pleased. Those don't count!
I have enjoyed my G3 quite a bit. I think the trigger is an improvement over the G2 in that it seems to break farther forward. I really think Taurus hit it out of the park with the G-series.
