Sold my AR's

Post by David »

Last year I sold off my shotguns. Yesterday I sold off my AR15's. Main reason is that I didn't want any platforms that put a lot of recoil into my shoulder because of my heart. Not that an AR had 'that' much recoil but it did have enough that it was a concern. Probably an irrational fear on my part but with the issues I've had over the years I wanted to err on the side of caution. I still have me 9mm PCC's but I think they'll be fine. And I still have my .22 rifles because that's like shooting a BB gun.

So I'm simply concentrating on handguns now. I made a pretty good amount of scratch on the AR/ammo sale. And I didn't even charge Covid pricing. Simply what the AR's were going for normal pricing and the ammo was just a tad elevated because I didn't want to just give it away. Figured I made a thousand pure profit. The one AR I only had about $450 into it and the other about the same. Both were worth way more even in normal times. The ammo I got for 50% off at WM when they discounted last year to clear the shelves. So even without price-gouging I made out like a bandit.

Funny, when I don't have much scratch to spend there are tons of stuff I'd like to get. When I have extra laying around I really get discriminating. Right now I really can't think of anything I actually need. Nor is anything really jumping at me. And of course now isn't the time. Might see if I can wait till the newbies start dumping their newly purchased guns. Hoping that happens, lol. I do keep checking to see if I can snag something of interest at a good price.

I was looking in the back of the safe and found I actually had more 223 than I thought. So I tossed that up on the local BST site.

You sold your ARs? WTF? :P

I would think now in particular is the time to keep them. You may never get another chance if the Dem's ban 'em.

Just didn't want to take any chances. We've still got the PCC's which are fine for HD. And compatible with our other HD platforms i.e. Glock.

Still nothing is catching my eye as far as 'gun stuff'. I wouldn't mind picking up a couple of more full sized pistols but not going to lay out a ton of cash. I can be patient and wait. Another type of PCC may be of interest but I'll have to do more research.

I'm eyeing all sorts of 9mm PCC's hard all the time. But I'm not getting rid of my ARs! And I'm an AK guy....to be fair, its an AR pistol...

I wish I had sold my ARs, but we were crossing the Mississippi in a canoe and tipped over, lost all of them. Thankfully I made it to shore. 2020 was a rough year.
