Containerization and containers

Post by bdcochran »

We all go through learning curves, so I will summarize.

White vinegar gallon containers.
Did it once hole food grade material? Yes.
Was the content slightly acidic? Yes
Is the plastic more sturdy/long lasting than the plastic used in a 2 liter plastic soft drink bottle? Yes.

Wash it out. Use it to store water. I stored them outside exposed to the weather. Labeled "plaint water". Don't have to lift and carry 30 or 55 gallon containers. Today, I am washing a few. I am to going to store rice in some former vinegar containers. The insects and rodents will not get into the containers. Label: "Jasmine rice".

Clear plastic, stackable storage containers of various sizes.
You can not longer buy the snapwear quality plastic containers that I own. I have over 100 units. The garbage has driven it out of the market. You personally have to find quality and Sterlite is not the answer.

1. As you add or subtract, you can change boxes and know what are the contents at a glance.
2. you can avoid making lists and numbering boxes.
3. quality containers do not deteriorate like cardboard boxes. I am now getting rid of large, warped containers, not snapwear.

quart, gallon, 2.5 gallon zip lock baggies and 6x8 closable baggies.

1. small parts
2. optics - binos/glasses

Let me provide some examples, just from the car.
I just put in the trunk a small container of lighter fluid, two zippos, a couple of replacement parts in a zip lock bag.
I changed the eye glass prescription two weeks ago and I like to keep a pair of close and distance vision glasses in the car in a case and the case in a baggie that is closable. I ordered baggies that fit eye glass cases and I will put a couple of hidden folders in the baggies to protect them beyond the sheath protection. Dirt and moisture can get into anything.

Check the lighter fluid from time to time to see if it has evaporated. I've noticed that disposables I have kept in the car have dried out. Might be because they were inexpensive clones or maybe butane evaporates in heat? Either way, keep an eye on it for a while and see how well it holds up.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.
