Sudden trip to Ocala National Forest!

Got a wild hair and bolted off into the wilds.

Threw my main packs, a little bit of clothes and food in the car, and hit the road for a place called Davenport landing.
- A bit wet Friday night, a bit cold Saturday night

I'll be making multiple posts on this solo excursion to debrief gear etc.. Learned quite a bit here! And will be suggesting an SEP gathering there

Very nice! Shane would likely be totally down for that trip. How far from the car were you?

There? About 8 Miles. I mean feet...

I did, however, find a spot that was into the woods on the River, and I'm sure there are more. That was one thing I did - hike in and see where good spots would be.

All over - but you'd need to get through some stuff sometimes. Did I mention I forgot my Machete???

Here is a potential spot on a high bluff, maybe 30 - 45 min hike from car parking off the beaten path, but not too far from it.

Bob, remember to check spring season hunting dates and useage of the forest land during those times. Used to be during hunting season only camping allowed was in designated camp areas, not just anywhere.

Just a precaution to avoid a federal ticket from US Forestry.
