How 2020 was a good year for you

Post by David »

Well, we can all agree that 2020 was a year with some odd challenges. But what happened for you this year that was a positive?

For me, I retired. And my wife and I discovered that we really enjoy each other's company all the time. We're having a wonderfully good time together and that is a very big blessing. We started the process for a new house so that is exciting. My son has gained new students and gotten a couple of raises as well. And thankfully we've kept our health.

So our blessings have truly been 'pressed down, shaken together and running over.'

As far as preps, we've seen that our prior preps were fairly adequate or even very good. We have addressed a few perceived weak areas and bolstered them up.

I've gone from an off-duty weapon to a CCW weapon which means I'm free to carry whatever I would like. And I've dipped my toes into the HK pond which has been a welcome change.

Well, we built a house this year and I spent lots of time in the woods/ hunting up at the property during the process. Investments were up and down and then up again so we made a good chunk of change this year (so far). My dad died in April but my 94 year old mother and 90+ year old in-laws are still alive. One of my three brothers and his wife and one daughter all have covid but survived. The rest of my sibs, their kids and my kids have all stayed healthy. No one who's working lost their jobs. So other than my dad dying it was a pretty good year.

Got a chance to shoot a couple of matches with my son this year. It's about an hour or so to the range so we had the chance to also have some good conversations in the car which was a lot of fun.

2. Learned to work from home - not one of my strong suites, but an area that I needed to up my game in
3. Here is a biggie: Started my journey towards giving my runaway Government as little of my money as possible!
- Started two independent businesses to become financially independent, Employment resilient, be my own boss, and monetize my life.
4. Got to run my preps for real because Pandemic and see how really well prepared I felt/was.
-Did OK. Can hang for at least two months no problem.
