2020 hasn't been a complete waste

Post by Bmyers »

We talk about having the right prepping tools and self defense tools, but since we have started restoring the farm, I have expanded my need for the right tools.

A big part of any job is having the right skills, but having the right tools really makes the job easier.

I have added dramatically to my toolbox and my skillset. I have had basic carpenter and mechanical skills, but the challenges at the farms has helped develop both skill sets. I still have a LONG ways to go, but every new project is adding to my skill set.

The developing skill set has led to me finding, just like in prepping, that the right tools can make the job a WHOLE lot easier. I'm understanding now why guys (and gals) have large toolboxes full of tools. A professional can get a lot of work done with a crescent wrench, but sure makes it a lot easier with a nice socket set.

So even though I may not of been able to shot and compete as much as I wanted to this year full of 2020 craziness, it has helped me to have the time develop my carpenter/mechanical skill set and expand my hand tool selection.

I'll remember 2020 as the year I retired and I'm very happy about that and how it worked out. I've enjoyed each and every single day.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot weather this storm". The warrior replies, "I am the storm".

Health it the most important. Get in shape and stay in shape. Do some push ups and go for long walks.

My workout takes 2 hours a day. Outside of walking the hills, the exercises are those given to me by physical therapists. As a result, I don't have pain (sometimes discomfort though) and am not on any medications. I read recently that 46% of men in the age range of 70-79 years old are on FIVE medications.

Hear hear! Rarely is anything completely good or bad.

This is the year I learned/embraced working from home.
I managed to start a couple of important business ventures.
I save a bunch of money on vehicle etc.

It was a year where I confirmed fully my belief that participation in government above anything but the most local is a colossal waste of time/effort/energy (You opinions may vary).

And it is the year I really had to test/assess my preps. As always - nowhere near perfect. But I was able to do my usual walk through and say "Not really worried."
