Got put off I75 4 times due to accidents south of Chattanooga through Georgia. Holiday traffic. Hopefully the drive back will be less eventful.
Dude - if you are going out near the Villages let me know!!!! I'll come with you.

Next time Mac comes down, you and I can make a road trip to have lunch with him. :)

What a difference a day makes.

Friday...Clear and dry...

Image

Sat...It snowed all day, total was 6" of heavy wet snow.
Image

Kept hearing thumps and and big crashes all day. When I left my blind to go back to the house for lunch, the ground was littered with big branches. When I walked back to the house the trees were bent over...

Image
Image

Some were down...

Image

Image

Total of just over 6".

Image

It was actually very pretty. I went out this morning and walked all over. It was definately a winter wonderland.

And I got word that we got the occupancy permit for the house.

View from the porch

And no, I didn't see anything. Skunked again. Thus ends season 2020.

The season in review for 2020...

Spent 52 days in the woods this year, that's 20 more than last year and that doesn't count all the days I was out in the woods this summer. Spent 3-4 days a week, every week this summer for the first time.

Saw lots of deer until the firearms deer season started then not so many. Killed a doe in the early doe season in Sept. Had plenty of chances for more doe and small bucks throughout October and early November but passed, looking for a bigger buck. Pretty much spent 5.5 days a week at the property from Sept until the end of November. All in all I had a good time, even without getting that elusive big buck. I really like being in the woods and with the new house will likely spend more time than ever up there.

I look forward to moving up there permanently. That's won't happen as long as my mother and in-laws are still alive. All three are in their nineties.

I heard about that storm. I've often thought that if by some freak of nature Florida got a dump of snow like that it would shut down the state. We just don't have the equipment to deal with it like the northern states. Everything would come to a dead stop here.

Only 8" here in Long Island.... but the double layer of snow/ice/snow can be a pain to clean off the car.

BTW, many years ago, with the kids leaving Fla, it was snowing... people pulling off the road to see snow,...
snow continued up to NC.
Can tell you that those southern drivers just don't know how to drive in same.
You can't fix stupid !
