Distribution centers are a good idea. I remember TN Frank who used to be a member on the old board mentioned he worked someplace like a Cabela’s or similar. He mentioned it was already his plan to go there as it had enough stuff to last for weeks or months. I think others would have the same thought though. Btw, anyone hear fro him? Haven’t seen him on GT for quite a while and hope he’s well.

I think everybody would swarm all the retail stores. Distribution centers not so much except maybe employees.

Response. The two major distribution centers are described thusly. One is about 30 miles east. Dozens and dozens of large warehouses. Plenty of people who work there, know the security systems and live near by. The other center is just off the main highway that in some places is over 10 lanes wide about 100 miles north of the city. Few people living nearby.

The center east will be completely wiped out within about three days of people understanding that shtf will last for months. The center north may take another week to be completely looted.

Regional shopping malls with rent-a-cops? Gone ASAP.

I'm not even sure where the distribution centers are in my area. Something I should check into.

We have several large warehouses/distribution centers about 15 minutes away. They came in and built them in the middle of farm fields because they were next to railroad tracks and interstate access. We have been involved in building a few of them, plus we do service work there, and I have a few friends that work in management level at different warehouses (I know hard to believe I have friends).

Knowing which warehouses to go to will save you a lot of time and effort.

There is a new Amazon distribution center going up about a mile away from my new home. Big building! I suppose that would be a place to consider. Not so much for food, but it might have some.

You might be surprised what you find in there. If it is look the one they put in the warehouse complex here, it has lots of things that would come in handy including emergency food.

A lot of distribution centers are considered critical infrastructure. That's how I learned of the massive egg ranch when I was on the FEMA regional advisory committee. So they might have police protection, at least for a while
