OK...so I have shot better. This is Remington UMC .357 125g +p. at 7yds.
Now - I'm not totally upset. Any of those JSP's would have caused someone to seriously rethink their actions I'm pretty sure. definitely would have ruined a bears day on any group of six. Gonna take a bit to get used to this though.
I shot:
130g .38's FMJ WWB
130g 38+p JHP WWB
150g .357 JSP Federal
125g .357 +p JSP Rem UMC
I will say that the .38 was like shooting a .22 almost. Not even a thing. The .357 on the other hand, while quite stout, was not at all unpleasant. I could shoot a lot of that and be just fine. So if possible, .357 it is!
Definitely a learning curve from your basic semi...I need to grip lower than higher. I used two handed grip for cocking. Easy and fast enough. I need to get accustomed to the trigger position. Very smooth and curved. I adjusted the sights, but think .357 is a little different the .38. Need to pick a caliber to set maybe. I think .357 is more accurate than .38. Maybe. I do not like the sites. I like that they are adjustable height/windage A LOT. I do not like the black on black. That will be remedied immediately with a little paint. And of course, load / unload a whole other thing. Keeps you paced though!
All in all, for my first Cowboy gun, I think I'm really gonna like it. Sites will make the day when painted and adjusted for when I get a regular cartridge picked. Just modern enough.
