Sitting in blind...

My brother reports a 8 pt just came out at the other end of the field. Hopefully it'll move toward him.

I haven't seen anything.

Oh... My garage floor is done. Looks real nice

SCORE!

Post by Mac66 »

So about 30 minutes after my brother saw the "8 pt". An 8 pt walked by me. We're pretty sure it was the same deer he saw. It was a long ways from him when he saw it.

I let one fly and he ran about 100 yards up the hill on the other side if the ravine before collapsing. It was a chore hauling him out. Pics tomorrow.

Some pics

And the arrow and Mora knife. He was headed down hill when he passed me. I caught hin just in front of the right hip. The arrow went through his innards and lodged in his left shoulder. I'm assuming that his running bent the bolt or it hit something along the way.

Since I have this post I may as well use it.

Here's the blind i built over looking the ravine. I used to bow hunt from tree stands but as I get older is harder and more dangerous for me. So far this blind has worked well. I'm 1 for 1 from it. :D

He passed me at about 30 feet and I had to freeze to keep from making a sound or movement. When he got past me I let him have it.

Post by Mac66 »

Filling in this space.

A word about the weather. Temps at night have varied from the high 20s- mid 40s at night. And from the mid 40s up into the 70s for the month of October.

Been in the high 50s- low 60s the last week or so during the day. Supposed to be in the mid 70s the next couple of dsys then in the 40s and 50s over the weekend

It was about 60 today. Mon 28 Oct.

74 yesterday, 70 degrees today. 64 this morning at 8 am. Last year on this date it was 30 and we got a couple inches of snow.

My wife headed back to the burbs today and picked up the venison from the butcher on the way from the doe i killed a couple weeks ago..

Last day of the month and I just realized I've spent all but 2 days at the woods house. With my mom gone no reason to go back to the burbs. Been throughly enjoying myself living in the woods.

Gotta go home next week for some doctor's appointments then its back to the woods house for the rest of November for firearms deer season.

The plan is to move to the woods house permanently next year. Trying to get our old house ready to sell in the spring. Except I've been up here pretty much full time since my mom died in sept.

We've been in the old house for 40 years so there's a lot of stuff that needs to be addressed. Big step but i think we are finally ready to tackle it after the season ends.

Having said all that...the temp is currently 30 with a high of 45 for the next couple of days.
