Added a new peanut lighter to my 'survival' key chain. This will be a secondary fire source behind my orange Zippo. I started a test thread down in the Fire section.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot weather this storm". The warrior replies, "I am the storm".

After all my bills are paid and some set aside, every month I try and budget for firearms, parts, upgrades, etc. Reloading components and tools, next is long term food storage, Medical, equipment, etc. It's just me, so even items like 20# propane tanks and a few doz of the 1# variety. These are my basics.

Just remember to store them outside ( shed, etc ) ... I've seen a garage wall get blown out from a 1lb propane when the gent turned on the light.

As to propane, I seen 2 houses go up into splinters from leaking 100lb propane tanks into basement.
You can't fix stupid !

One of the hardest things to do is to discipline oneself to get rid of things. I have items saved up for donation to the boy scouts sitting since February. I checked and the road will not be repaired until maybe next June. However, I received emails of two other people in the organization - a cover letter went out with a list, a couple of photos. I also pulled stuff from the garage for a local charity. My girl friend and I take thing together every few months.

I also pulled out a dozen folders to give to relatives and friends.

I gotta try one of these.

I like to run high volume/disposable - lights, lighters, knives etc...with a few good items.

I keep seeing the Peanut Lighter here/there though...

Anyway - not exactly this week, but

9mm PCC to consolidate calibers around my pistols

Took the wife to the range and she wants to go at least once a month.

Serviced the car a few hundred miles early. Had the suspension checked as I was sure that it is leaking. I got a lot out of the car suspension system. However, it is that time again to have it replaced.

An older car. After doing the research (and learning that some of the clerks at parts companies are not too swift), I did a long letter of identification with the request to given me a final price on two alternatives, Will drop it off tomorrow at a couple of parts stores. Pricey. My son is installing new struts himself and I write post. But he lives 3000 miles away.

Why do it?
1. US army. You go with you have and you maintain it.
2. First week in this house 44 years. Realization that if the trash cans were going to be taken to the street or the house was kept in good repair, it was going to be me, not the wife. And after she passed, it was just me raising the little one.

Spending big bucks of struts is better than buying a new car.

Ordered six chickens, ended up with seven and all seven are doing well so far. The first day, thought we were going to lose one, but it since has perked up and all of them are looking good.
