Re: Interesting morning
The lesson here is that .gov is paying attention to what you buy online. Scary thought. Buyer be aware. I was speaking with a guy just last night about this and he stated he always uses cash when purchasing certain items like ammunition. Some wisdom in that approach. One assumes that there would be...

Re: Hunting 2019
Once you invest in the land, improvements, and man hours of work, that venison becomes really, really expensive meat. Probably a couple hundred bucks a pound. LOL
Had some venison steaks last night for dinner. The work and expense to get it makes it well savored.

Re: Sipik (SK68)
I don't disagree that a good 14500 battery will get a different performance. A person has to know if using a 14500 battery in the place of an AA battery would cause a flashlight to overheat. I did order another 4 sipik sk68s this last week. Today, I went to my bag of AA flashlight parts and tried t...

Re: Ankle trauma kit
Interesting. First I've heard of a ankle borne FAK. Seems kind of expensive for just a nylon pouch.

Re: Medications during grid down/SHTF
Fortunately at the age of 65 I'm only on one med which is to lower my heart rate after having a heart valve replacement several years ago. It's not critical and I can live without it. My wife (64) doesn't take any prescription meds. My main concern is infection so antibiotics would be what I would s...

Re: Your choice(s) for SHTF weapons
I am thinking a 22 rifle would be the best choice particularly since I have many 10s of thousands of rounds stashed away. A 22 out of a rifle is formidable but shot placement is key. Next choice would be a 12 ga shotgun which handles anything from birds to bears. It is pretty easy to reload 12 ga sh...

Well, I can't replicate the entire hunting 2019 thread but I happened to have the draft of the last post I made so here it is. If I think of anything else I will add to it. I may add some favorite photos as well as I run across them. Random Thoughts-Hunting 2019 -Spent 32 days out in the woods this ...

Re: Sillcock key
I bought a couple before Y2K to keep in the BOBs. Never used them but I have them just in case I ever have a need.
