Alec Baldwin spotted ‘in tears’ after 'Rust' movie set shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 wounded

First off, not an Alec fan. The topic has caught my interest. I have only worked in one movie and we didn't have any guns (the cops did and they were real guns, but these were also real cops). Just on the seven hour shoot I was on, the amount of people there was surprising. Yet, they kept good control of the scene and the regular actors were all in the back of my ambulance as we set back there and stayed warm. Plus, they were all entrained since I had no idea who they were except the dad from Home Alone movies, still couldn't tell you his name. They kept saying lines from movies they were in and see if I could figure out what movie it was from. I did finally figure out the one actor that was in Sandlot and Black Hawk Down. The female actors I did much worst with, couldn't figure them out. At least I kept them entrained. (Here is the link to the movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439833/).

Anyway, the actors were given strict instructions not to touch any of the equipment by the director because the equipment we were using on the scene was actual equipment and not prop equipment (it was a scene of a car wreck and the fire department was cutting the actors out of the car and we were treating them).

When we all went to eat I talked to the actor from the Black Hawk Down about the movie and the guns. He talked about how they have staff that handle all the guns and he couldn't really tell me much about the guns. (I have to do more research into prop guns, i thought they were real guns with blanks, but again, what do I know.)

Which brings me back to the original title of this post, how did Alec Baldwin kill one person and injury another with a prop gun? Something isn't adding up. I'm sure his version will be that guns are evil and it is all the guns fault. Lots of missing pieces.

I'm surprised as I read more articles over the weekend that some movie sets still use real guns.

In the few cases I have participated with local law enforcement in training exercises with sim ammo, everyone was told no guns in the building. When we arrived, everyone, including the officers were searched along with any bags being brought in to make sure that no guns and no ammo was present. Then the training went on.

If this low budget training took these simple steps, I can't believe a multi-billion dollar movie industry hasn't taken the time to develop the standards to eliminate this risk.

As it was pointed out, the armorer may not of been as competent as she should of been, although I reserve judgement. I'm just wondering if they aren't trying to redirect the blame.

Regardless, one person is dead that simple safety procedures should of prevented.

My wife just told me that she was listening to a show that was saying the woman that was killed had tweeted out about releasing information against the Clintons (not a joke) and that she's the wife of some guy that is involved with the Clintons. I don't know all the details about all of that.

And that's a big point. She's wasn't in the movie. They weren't filming a scene. So why did he point a gun at her and pull the trigger?
