It got down to 43 degrees in Ocala the other night. I was just fine. Wayyyyy more comfortable than the car! Very comfy.
Key "always" remember:
Use a reflective shade in the bottom to insulate hammock and reflect body heat!
- Shade on bottom
- Second sleeping bag on that
- In my sleeping bag on top
Wore: Thin thermals + my sweat pants. Did just fine.
If it REALLY got cold my next two steps would be
1) Lower the ridge line and put a tarp over it to trap warm air
2) I would get in my heat sheets bivy bag. Super warm, although one wakes up a bit moist...
Cold Weather In A Hammock
Re: Cold Weather In A Hammock
Your post reminded me. People should consider buying thermal underclothes. In the Army, you might have an outside temperature of 45 degrees at 7 am going up to 75 or 80 degrees in the afternoon and you had to choose. Do I wear a thermal top and bottom or just the top?

Strip them on/off as needed.
When it gets cold I want both! They are small & light
