The Flaming Leaf Class was a bigger, bulkier Escort, much like how the Klingon D-26 K'Teremny is disturbingly large to be a Destroyer.
It was developed by two Engineering Cadets in 2283, and quickly became a replacement for four older Escort Classes, relying more on Plasma than on the typical Canadi'en Mauler, eh?
