Ammo prices

Post by Bmyers »

AS we knew would happen, prices are going up.

Effective 4/1/2021 Federal, Remington, CCI, and SPEER ammunition will take a price increase of 3-15% across all products from our last price list. Unless you notify us to cancel an order, we will reprice all existing and future orders shipped on or after 4/1/2021 to the new 4/1 prices."...

Winchester going up 5-15% 2/01/21

So those that hadn't bought before hand will face not only the shortage of ammo due to demand, but increased prices. Attendance at local matches have dropped dramatically. Talking to several match directors, they are currently discussing cancelling the local sanctioned matches and reducing the number of local matches just due to the lack of attendance.

Good. If there's no match to shoot, maybe people will stop shooting for a while. Ammo prices would quickly stabilize if idiots would quit buying for a month.
Real shooters aren't the problem. We had enough ammo or components to ride this out. It's the non-shooters that are buying everything up. Everyone who never had a gun or shot once a year suddenly thinks they need 10k rounds.

It’s interesting to look back at the herd mentality relating to all the panic. Guns, ammo, toilet paper, hand sanitizer were the hot commodities. And yes, seems like a lot of people suddenly realized how vulnerable they, and the system could actually be during an ‘event’.

Gun and ammo companies should be very happy right now with the current gravy train.

I talked to the local range manager last night before running my match.
He still has morons coming in and blowing ammo like water. One guy bought and shot 10 boxes of 9mm at $30/box yesterday just hosing targets. As long as these idiots keep buying it up, prices will not come down.

Let them shoot it.

Some people just do not know how to practice or train when they have ammo.

I'm starting to wonder if the 'ammo shortage' is now being artificially created by online retailers? On the BST site this morning was an ad from a long time member warning others on the site:
Don’t pay 40 bucks a box for ammo. If you do you are an idiot. Went to local places to day and found it for 17 a box. I’m not saying where cuz you scum bags will go buy it all and sell it for 40 keeping the prices high and make a buck off fellow shooters...Online retailers are making a killing off ammo, keeping the prices high and telling everyone there’s a still a shortage. NOT TRUE...There’s plenty of ammo at reasonable prices if you look around...I bought 1000 rounds today for $250.00....Don’t pay these rip off prices...If you can’t find it don’t buy it. The price will come down!!
Additionally, the place down in Sarasota (Shark Coast Tactical) where I bought my G45 always seem to have pallets of ammo for sale. Not just stocked shelves but actual pallets of ammo! I haven't shopped for ammo locally since last summer so I don't know what's in my area but I would think that online retailers are maybe trying to ride the gravy train for as long as possible. The above is not the only 'report' from someone saying their local shop had full shelves.

How is it in your area?

In better news this week.

Remington ammunition who has been not producing ammo for the last 14 months while things shook out from the selling off and bankruptcy fillings, is now back producing ammo. This is good news as They were the second largest domestic producer of ammo.

Lets hope the recovery and prices start to drop here in the future.

I would like to see more 5.7 x 25 back in production as well. LOL

Shelves are still bare in Michigan and if you do find a box or two it is at premium prices.

This is not the first time I have heard this about Shark Coast Tactical and they have an increasing selection of popular hand guns also. One of my coworkers visits there frequently= really likes the place.
