My greatest non-illness threat is fire, not zombies/hordes of hungry people.
There is only so much that you can do - smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire resistant roof, sprinkler system on roof, fire extinguisher in each room. I have that. In recent years and ONLY because of the law, my neighbors replaced their shake shingle roofs with fire resistant roofs, a big plus as their structures are are from 2 to 6 feet from mine (and one neighbor insisted on putting up an 8 foot redwood fence that I dubbed the Great Wall of China.
If a fire starts in the average home, the home will be a total loss within 7 minutes.
