Ran across this channel on youtube which has a bunch of GoPro videos of the guys fighting in the trenches. Some of it is just brutal. Trench warfare in the 21 century, go figure.

Some take aways.
1. Reconnaissance by fire-They use up a lot of ammo. Suppressive fire seems to be the norm. Most of those guys carry 20 mags or more. Many of them have lots of mags in chest rigs and then a backpack or mag pouches all over their plate carriers.
2. I think if a conflict ever comes to the US, ammo is going to be an issue.
3. You got to be young to fight a war. It was exhausting just to watch them haul their stuff around. If a war or serious conflict ever starts in the US, How many of us could carry a load out of gear for a mile or two. Us old guys are gonna die pretty quickly. So maybe ammo isn't that big of an issue after all.

4. I think it is a fantasy that an armed citizenry could stand up to a trained military force. Yeah I know, Lexington and Concord but the militia that stood up to the Brits were somewhat trained. Not to mention weapons, tactics, communications have changed. Us old guys are gonna be toast.
5. The use of drones is transforming war. The ability to surveil the enemy and attack him remotely is a huge factor.
6. Since most of those guys are wearing plate carriers, most wounds are to the legs, neck, face and head. Side shots/shrapnel through the arms usually punctures lungs. Stock up on tourniquets and pressure bandages. Know how to treat a sucking chest wound.
7. With everybody carrying rifles and wearing body armor, pistols don't seem to be used much or at all.
