Added 5.56 back into inventory

For years I've been shooting all 9mm and 22lr. I almost exclusively shoot competition and those cover my preferred games. Obviously, I still have guns for defense. 9mm pistols and PCCs fill that role well.
My friends have been pushing me to get another 5.56 for longer range defense and carbine matches. I normally run a PCC for carbine and gun matches. I just accept the disadvantages in exchange for simplicity and cost of ammo. I usually win or at least place so it's not holding me back too much.
Going through my ammo stash, I found about 1,000rds of various 5.56 still on hand. It's mostly split between 69gr BTHP and 55gr V-Max handloads.
Since I still don't plan on blasting a bunch of 50¢ ammo at a match, an AR doesn't fill a role. I went a different route and picked up the Ruger American Ranch Gen 2. These little rifles are getting fantastic reviews and my experience with the Gen 1 made this an easy choice.
I've seen some videos with 0.3" groups right out of the box. I don't expect that good, but I'll be ecstatic to get sub-moa with one of my loads.
I really like the AR mag compatibility. PMags are cheap and reliable. Trigger is not as light as I'd prefer. I'm spoiled by my 8oz benchrest rig.
I went a little overkill on the scope. For one reason, I love these Arkens. For another, I want to give it every advantage possible to perform. 25x will let me be precise so the rifle can shine.
Hopefully we break out of this cold snap soon so I can get to the range before spring.
