My son and his wife took a trip up to New Jersey (her family) and then Virginia (cousins B-day) back while Debbie was still down in the Caribbean. Of course Debbie came up through the Big Bend of Florida and into Georgia and parked around I-95 which is the route they would drive back. So they stayed a few extra days. Hit some rain but generally the trip back was fine.
I was pleased that when they were heading out initially they asked for a FAK to toss into the car as well as having an extra flashlight on hand. Glad to know they were thinking along those lines for a long road trip.

Never bothered at 10 over... And I rather the ones that need to go faster pass me.
Friends that were on Hwy patrol always stated 10-20 over before they get excited, so I go with that.
Never counted...interesting facts.

Getting ready to head south again on Feb 1. Going to drive straight through 1100 miles, weather permitting.

that's a ride for sure.... but do-able with coffee and jelly beans ( sugar )
Best I've ever done was 1200 miles on a MC. Can say my butt was sore for a few days after.

Usually takes us about 17 hours. We pack coffee and my wife usually frys up some chicken fingers (easy to eat in the car) and veggies. I've been on keto so long that we don't eat sugar stuff. Don't stop for meals, eat in the car. Just found it easier to keep going if we limit stops to bathroom breaks and gas stops.

Getting ready to head to Florida tomorrow. Up at 4 am, out the door between 4:30 and 5. Went to bed at 10 last night up at 5 this morning to prepare for the 4 am wake up tomorrow. Will be in bed at 9 pm tonight.
We debated about leaving yesterday but rain and snow was predicted through Michigan, Ohio, KY and Tn. Sure enough we got about 3" last night which made the roads slippery. At 5 am this morning the salt trucks hadn't been out. The roads should be clear and dry by tomorrow. Sunday's are a good day to travel. Usually pretty light traffic all the way.
Just in case anyone is wondering what I'm carrying. I have my EDC which is a Taurus G3c and my backup in a lock box under the seat is my Ruger LC9. I also have my Keltec SU16 folding rifle in a tennis racket case. I may also take a Ruger 10/22 down and leave it at the Florida house just because I have a number of them and a 22 rifle is always handy to have around. I do have an extra Marlin 795 which is a 10 shot semi auto 22 with a detachable mag. Very accurate and a fun little gun. I may take that one instead, just because I never use it for anything so why not?
I would like to keep a pistol, rifle and a shotgun at the Florida house. I already have a pistol there.

Got up at 4 am. Left at 4:40 am Sunday morning. Arrived at the Florida house at 9:20 pm. So just shy of 17 hours.
Hit traffic south of Chattooga and north of Atlanta but otherwise smooth sailing all the way. Roads were clear and dry..
Stopped for gas 3 times, my wife packed food so we ate in the car on the move.
Pretty easy drive, all in all.

So...we bought bikes to keep down here at the Florida house. Not high end but good enough for getting around. I've been getting up every morning, well..the 2 days we've been here,so and riding over to the fitness trail to do my workout. It's about 1.5 miles each way.
Been also cleaning up the yard. Lots of debris. Also been up on the ladder cleaning out the gutters. Its taken me 2 days to do one side of the house. Start tomorrow on the other side. Needless to say I'm pretty tired at the end of the day.
When we are away the neighbor takes our electric golf cart out about every 2 weeks to keep the batteries cycled. A couple of weeks ago he pulled to the side of the street to look at a house and a lady ran into him with her car. Fortunately he wasn't hurt (90 years old) but it muked up the golf cart. We've been dealing with her insurance trying to get it fixed. It's always something.

Ridden my bike and worked out 6 days this week in addition to working around the house. Enjoying the warm weather. My brother and his wife are visiting starting tomorrow. Then my son, his wife and grandson will be here the week after. Then a 9 day cruise. Then back here for another week before heading home in mid March.
The golf cart repair guy will be here Wednesday.
And its my wife's birthday today.

Well...the golf cart repair guy replaced the bent leaf spring on the cart and aligned the rear wheels. There is still a wobble in the left rear wheel where it was hit. It is drivable but will now have to go to the dealer to replace the bent axle. It will be covered by the insurance of the woman who hit it.
Edited to add....
The golf cart dealer said they needed to replace the axle assembly. cost was about $2200. They fixed in in 2 days which I thought was kind of amazing. Apparently much simpler than a car. The woman who hit us insurance paid for it.
