Ins companies allow for damage now and then.
I did not know that, and it's good information to have...

We don't keep food at the farm house to reduce mice, but are taking some freeze dried food in containers to provide us a place if we need to go to that is out of town, but not out of area. I don't like the idea of bugging out to an area I don't know.
Not a bad idea. From what I've been seeing, things are going to get much worse leading up to the election and even afterwards. I'm seeing video of Antifa shouting (by bull horn) that they aren't going to stop after the election. I guess they know Trump is going to win as well. So they are talking about ramping it up after the election. There is already a 'Siege the White House' that has been planned, I think starting today and going to the election. A.G. Barr has begun suggesting prosecutors start using Sedition as a charge which is a very good idea. Because that is what this actually is right now. There are also pics surfacing where at least some of these Antifa idiots received training in Syria and were in with ISIS.

There is an online pamphlet circulating about blending in with the MAGA people or even impersonating police and then causing problems. Also, Antifa is going into the fire areas with water for the first responders but also gasoline to start more fires. Arrests were made.

So yeah, these are the times we prep for (as far as man-made incidents).

We had a little family meeting last night to discuss current events. We are going to be voting in person of course, and likely when early voting begins. Other than that our plan is to hunker down for a few days before and after the election. We are anticipating a lot of staged violence as the left throws a tantrum. Hoping we are wrong but unfortunately I doubt it.

Sound like a perfect time to use canning jars an O2 depleters...
Very good to prevent mice issues and glass allows you to see product.

I only keep can food and bottled water at the hunting camp because of mice too. I've had mice chew into freeze dried food packets and MRE packs that were stored in Home Depot Homer buckets with lid by chewing through the corner of the lid. I want to find one of those large military steel container that was used to transport mortar shells to store freeze dried food packets and MRE.

Just a suggestion for all off grid prepping food storage. Place your plastic containers in a Job Box. They are available at Tractor and Faerm Supply, Northern Tool Supply, Found on Craigslist at times, and should be available at Home Depot, Lowes, maybe even Harbor freight.

Good strong steel boxes, not light weight cheap flimsy box, and seelf containedd securely lockable. :D

Food. I sealed the big garage door permanently shut. Steel mesh side door with two deadbolts (one twist open from the inside) and wood side door with two deadbolt locks keyed differently.
