Bob...you appear to be arguing with yourself, LOL
I thought that Trump is/was a flaming A-hole but I thought his economic polices were very good. Record employment, economy and stock market boomed. Life was good under him regardless of his personality.
I also thought he was pretty strong on foreign policy. Turned a lot Obama's weak policies around. Other countries may not respected him but they feared him, which ain't bad.
The problem is he just couldn't shut his mouth. If he had asked the question "are you better off than you were 4 years ago?" he would have been re-elected because everybody was.
I didn't vote for him the first time, voted independent but I held my nose and voted for him the second time because of his economic success.

Again - a core issue is really how much of the economy can you attribute directly to the president?
I think a lot less than people believe. The president is just an easy single target.
If you voted for them, you think the good things are because of them, and the bad things were the predecessor. That just isn't true.

I think personality and confidence has a lot to do with how the prez does with the economy. Trump was pro business which inspired investors and companies to invest. He used his influence to encourage deregulation. In addition his strong foreign policies (stifling China for example) opened the door for the economy to grow. The best economy in history wasn't just a coincidence under Trump.
Obama didn't know anything except for the tired old socialist cliches and the economy dumped. Massive recession. Weak foreign policy. Happened again under Sleepy Joe. From that standpoint just about any Republican is better than any Democrat.

I had a client who explained how politics influences the economy.
It is mostly a matter of speed and direction. even under Obama in term two recovery was on it's way...fueled to some degree by his spend/print policy. When Trump showed up, it went faster and off a bit to the right or left faster, but Trump continued that policy, along with as stated "pro business" attitude"
That said - what we are seing with banks is a result of that and not a good one. Would happen anyway, but we are seeing it sooner vs later.

It's not fanboism. I view a lot more alternative news/information than you guys. I knew about stuff way before it came to light. The 'funny' phrase of the difference between truth and conspiracy theory is about 12-18 months' is actually pretty accurate. Not because I'm a genius (well, actually my I.Q. is in that range and I did pass the entrance exam to Mensa) but simply because I realized years ago that the MSM is a propaganda arm of the far left. So I sought out alternative reporting that reported the WHOLE story not just the angles to push an agenda. I'm not always right, but I'm right quite a bit of the time in terms of current events. And time will continue to verify many of the views I've espoused here on the board.

The whole defense of "You are a conspiracy theorist" is just hilarious as people use it as a defense.
I love to poke the Ex's buttons with a "So, those shots" or "So, Hunter Biden". on the occasions when I see her.
So funny to watch the mental gymnastics of denial. Way better than the Olyimpics!

I just read an article about disinformation and misinformation.
https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news ... nformation
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that you can't trust anything you see online, on TV, newspapers, magazines or any other media source. It's all mis/disinformation set up to influence an outcome. That includes any and everything ever written or disseminated about Trump and one can presume, anything else. And....I suppose that also means the above article

I'm not looking forward to all the political junk, from both sides. I think we should bring back dueling and let the politicians work out a few of the problems there and then come talk to us.

still thinking Trump and either Tim Scott or Haley as VP...
way to bring in more votes as Desantis may not want to bow to #45
