LOL - that's what they ALWAYS say before the Zombie Apocalypse!

Actually - the pervasive belief/trust in the Vaccine IS the Zombie Apocalypse

My sense of humor is warped. However, it keeps me alive.

Today the headline is that the virus infection detection witnesses a 900% increase in the Rio Grande Valley.

Ok. Finally, the open border crowd and the rugged Marlboro Man type vaccine decliners come together. Next on the list of afflictions where progressives and traditionalists meet will be tuberculosis. Let the people come and I will stand on my right not to be tested for tb.

Good point on TB. I wonder what other diseases are increasing.

Again - if there are 1,000,000 people there, and 1 had and now 9 have it, that's a 900% increase. Context is everything. Or nothing, if you are the media.

Or 100,000 people had it, then it shopt to 900,000 - but no one went to the hospital. Again....so what?

How do you know no one went to the hospital?

How did anyone find out about the issue?

I don't know - and neither do you or anyone else.

That's my point. Media Fear Porn.

"There was a 500% increase in risk for people who drink wine!"

Original risk: .00012%. After 500% increase - now .006%. Whatever....And that might have been entirely due to a 5000% increase in those who drink more than 8 glasses per day vs 8 per week or 2 glasses at a sitting. Tell me EVERYTHING I need to know, or don't bother at all.

You're saying hospitals don't monitor and report admittances by cause?

Statistics was not taught in public school to my best recollection. College students avoid it like the plague. I have a sister who teaches it at the university level. It is not understood by politicians. Best understood in business by actuaries. The old jokes:
1. there are three kinds of liars - people who tell black lies, people who tell white lies and statisticians.
2. an actuary is a guy who was studying to become a CPA but became captivated by the numbers.
3. one plus one equals what? I am a trial lawyer, what number do you want?

I am laying out the two kinds of statistics below. If you can't understand what is presented, you really should not be arguing about statistics:

Descriptive Statistics

In this type of statistics, the data is summarised through the given observations. The summarisation is one from a sample of population using parameters such as the mean or standard deviation.

Descriptive statistics is a way to organise, represent and describe a collection of data using tables, graphs, and summary measures. For example, the collection of people in a city using the internet or using Television.

Descriptive statistics are also categorised into four different categories:

Measure of frequency
Measure of dispersion
Measure of central tendency
Measure of position

The frequency measurement displays the number of times a particular data occurs. Range, Variance, Standard Deviation are measures of dispersion. It identifies the spread of data. Central tendencies are the mean, median and mode of the data. And the measure of position describes the percentile and quartile ranks.
Inferential Statistics

This type of statistics is used to interpret the meaning of Descriptive statistics. That means once the data has been collected, analysed and summarised then we use these stats to describe the meaning of the collected data. Or we can say, it is used to draw conclusions from the data that depends on random variations such as observational errors, sampling variation, etc.

Inferential Statistics is a method that allows us to use information collected from a sample to make decisions, predictions or inferences from a population. It grants us permission to give statements that goes beyond the available data or information. For example, deriving estimates from hypothetical research.
