I don't know the source of the chart, the methodology used or the veracity of their data. I can tell you that at Walmart during the Busch years a box of 9mm was around $5 a box. So .10 cents a round. Some brands a little below, some a little above. During Obama, after it settled down post first election the price was about $8 a box of 9mm. Again, some brands a bit below, some a bit above. So figure .15 cents to .20 cents a round.

Will we see sub $10 per box of 9mm? Time will tell. I would image that at some point it will settle down, particularly if ordered by the case. We shall see if and how long.

The chart is definitely wrong. In 2019 I was getting cases of Blazer Brass delivered for $170 and in January 2020 it was $164.99+tax at The Ammunition Store.

I did misunderstand your post though. I read it as an average over 20 years not a yearly average for 20 years. Apologies.

Yeah - I know nothing about the chart data. It is likely an average of all 9mm costs per rd. But relatively speaking, it looks about right. I saw some charts going back further that were in the 10c per round zone.

I'm not interested in "What is the cheapest ammo ever available anywhere". I'm interested in the walk into anywhere and there are three boxes of 9mm - crap rounds, ok stuff and premium. I'll take three boxes of mid line and go to the range.

I don't trust any of you guys memories now that I know you are all retired or old enough to fear the Rona!
