chickens. Raised white leghorns.
1. rats and mice are a potential problem if you don't go with cages.

2. chickens will roost in a tree. so at one time, we had a fence around an orange tree and the oranges were incredible.

3. you can trim one wing and then a chicken will not attempt to fly over a 6 foot fence.

4. you need at least some overhead protection from the rain

2024 goals. The boy scout camp is still isolated by washed out road 7 months later. If no progress in repairs by January, the itemized items may go to a different charity.

Yesterday, I picked out about 20 folder knives to give relatives over the next year. I sued to be a knife dealer.

2025 is upon us now.
I have a Brother printer that gave good service for a decade. However, it will not copy very well and checking with Brother, the situation can not be serviced, so I bought another machine. I have been using up the inexpensive cartridges for the old machine and now down to one spare. cartridge. So, that printer will go in early 2025.

Started the fuel switch out and refresh. Ran the generator for an hour and added fuel treatment. Same for the snow blower. Lawnmower will be the last item since it will get used until November.

Starting to dump the old fuel into the truck and get fresh gasoline in the cans.

I lowered my store of gas in the summer.... fall is when I restock, which will be soon. This way in spring I only have to use up 15 gals in the vehicle and it 6 months old ( with stabil ).

Still stock enough for 30 days tho.

Have to rotate and recharge all my small batteries .... and load test the car batteries on my solar setup for the outdoor lighting.

Well, my wife surprised me, I thought chickens were coming next Spring. Well, I was wrong, they will be here in two week. So, I guess we are getting into the chicken/egg business.

She has been reading and watching a ton of videos. Talked to a few of the neighbors that have chickens and spent an hour on the phone with the hatchery getting advise. So, I think she is doing her homework. I will just be happy to have fresh eggs in a few months.

Wanted chickens.... but wife is the boss and said no. Also, we travel a lot so it could pose an issue taking care of them.
Good luck....

1. admitting a short coming in the 2024 plans. Now I have a solution.

2. I donated a lot of items to the boy scouts in December and January. Unfortunately, the road has washed out. I have a truck load ready to go. Fortunately, I have a list and photographs. Next week, I have to find alternative places if there is no other scout facility.

3. Separately, I went through the knives (I was a dealer) and put together a pile to give away to friends and relatives..
