It will be very interesting.
There will be a drop off in the volume of food regardless of the weather.
Warning signs - more shortages, more inflation.

And now Pacific Western says 20% drop in DEF.

It's all planned. It will get better, but it sucks having to wait for it to get better.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

I am the nominal manager of the LLC that owns the family farm. Soybeans. I estimated last November that the price would be up about 30% this next November. The increased hostilities in the Ukraine had not started. Now, I am guessing that the crop price will be up at least 50%. It is not "profit" by a stretch of the imagination. The costs are ratcheting up.
It will take a couple of years for things to settle down if the Ukrainian War stopped today.
Let's address inflation: Where $5 Trillion in Pandemic Stimulus Money Went
By Alicia Parlapiano, Deborah B. Solomon, Madeleine Ngo and Stacy CowleyMarch 11, 2022 NY Times article.
Simple economics. You have a finite amount of goods and services and a finite amount of cash to pay for those services. Like there is a shelf of candy bars at the candy counter and each one costs a dollar. There are ten people standing there, each with a dollar in his hand and ten candy bars. Now, someone comes in the room and gives out a lot of free money. No more candy bars are put out. Do you think that people will start bidding more than $1 a candy bar? I hope you understand that people will.
In 2000, 2001, and 2002, the government told a lot of people to go home, don't work, and you will get some money. so, the amount of goods and services were reduced and some people got free money. If you were a renter, the government might have told you, don't bother paying the rent. If you had a student loan, the government might have told you not to pay on the student loan. So $5,000,000,000,0000 was given out and YOU don't think inflation is a result?

Meanwhile, we have done nothing by being involved in Ukraine. Wait - not nothing....
1. Supported one of the most corrupt countires in Eastern Europe
2. Extended war so more Ukrainians died
3. DIDN'T stop Putin from getting what he wanted anyway
4. Actually INCREASED the value of Russian oil and Rubles
5. Spent money that could have gone to numerous other US internal projects
So, we did all that! Yay!
