Taurus G2C?
Re: Taurus G2C?
What's the difference between a G2 and G3 besides the sights?
Re: Taurus G2C?
I have the G3 which is the full size that comes with a 15 round and 17 round mag. The G3c is comparable to the G2C in size and the video above is a direct comparison. Just received an email from Taurus yesterday announcing the G3X which is just like the Glock 45/19X in that it puts a compact slide on a full size frame and eliminates the MS.
Overall the obvious difference is the width of the trigger and dingus. It is wider than the G2 series. The G2 trigger on the two or three I’ve had were fine and perfectly serviceable. Having said that, the wider G3 does feel more comfortable. I think if you were going to talk a 1000 round course you’d feel some difference in comfort by the end of it. Not a negative on the G2, simply something they refined on the G3.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

Re: Taurus G2C?
Well, "give-or-take" is pretty different in this case; it might be worth looking into this if anyone is interested. The G3 trigger blade blocks the trigger from moving backward unless it's depressed, by wedging itself against the frame - as Glock has used since the Eighties. The G2's trigger blade has a different design than Glock: a weird, wobbly push-me/pull-you workaround hooks the blade onto the trigger itself to prevent rearward motion - it's hard to explain . . . and can cause quite the hitch in the initial trigger pull if the Brasileiro craftsman was having a bad Monday.
G2c's "hook" that would impede the trigger itself if I weren't depressing the blade from the front, viewed from underneath
G3c's trigger blade physically impinging on the back of the frame as I'm not depressing the blade, like Gaston intended
I've got quite a bit of fiddling and shooting in with these two now - they both work, but I'd send a beloved family member to the G3 just because of the reduced prospect of trigger issues.
But I personally find the G2c's narrower trigger blade to be more comfortable and to feel more "precise" while shooting (than the wider, slushier feeling G3c's). I just don't like the way the G2c's safety mechanism can sometimes foul up my trigger pull by not properly disengaging from the back of the trigger. (There are a few threads about this issue over on TaurusArmed.net, if anyone wants to go into the weeds.)
Re: Taurus G2C?
Well, I'm heading up to the new house tomorrow (covid and all) and will be taking/shooting the G2c. I'll let everyone know if there any surprises.

Re: Taurus G2C?
I've been carrying my G2c IWB around the house all day while in covid lockdown. Pretty easy to carry, a little bit wider than my LC9s but no big deal. Taking it up to the new house today or tomorrow and will be shooting it.
Re: Taurus G2C?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after shooting it.

Re: Taurus G2C?
Well...I shot the G2c. It was meh.. .
The trigger kept hanging up, I would pull, reset it and the trigger dingus would hang up or it wouldn't fire until I reset it again. You really have to let the trigger ALL THE WAY OUT and way past the reset point for the trigger to work consistently. Not to mention it shot 6" low at 20 feet.
I put 3 mags through it i.e, 36 rounds. It happened to be 6 degrees out and snowing heavily or I would have shot it more and adjusted the sights. Not very impressed but I'll try again next time I go back up and when/if the weather is a little better.

Re: Taurus G2C?
Sorry it wasn't a better experience for you. Do you think the weather may have been a factor?

You know - it is not sexy in the big scheme of things, but I have shot Dave's. They work just just fine.
If I had that Escort shotgun and the G2, would I be happy? No. But I'd be safe, and that is what matters.
