Are there Sheriff's and Chief's of Police that would kick down your door, if ordered by .gov, and confiscate your firearms? We all know the answer is yes. On the flip side, are there Sheriff's and Chief's who have publicly stated they would arrest Federal agents if they attempted to do just that in their county/city? Again, yes. Just here in Florida I can name multiple Sheriff's that not only fully support the 2A they encourage their citizens to get trained and get a CCW. I know my old Department trained private citizens for just such a purpose.
And you happen to personally know several active and retired Deputies personally that are strong 2A supporters...and vocal.
So it depends on the Governor or Mayor or Chief or Sheriff in the location in question. Some don't give a damn about their Oath of Office. Most do. Hundreds of Sheriff's and Chiefs wrote an open letter to BHO when he was still in office do state they would oppose any and all draconian gun grabs. So the mistake cannot be made to lump 'police' under the same banner. Some let their personal political believes and/or agenda dictate their actions i.e. the FBI agents that have been fired and who in all likelihood will soon be charged Federally. Most don't let their personal beliefs interfere with their professional duty.
