Again - stop calling them anarchists. I'm an anarchist at heart. An-archy means no structure - not loot and pillage!
They are simply destructive punks.

an•arch•ist ►
n.
Properly, one who advocates anarchy or the absence of government as a political ideal; a believer in an anarchic theory of society; especially, an adherent of the social theory of Proudhon. See anarchy, 2.
n.
In popular use, one who seeks to overturn by violence all constituted forms and institutions of society and government, all law and order, and all rights of property, with no purpose of establishing any other system of order in the place of that destroyed; especially, such a person when actuated by mere lust of plunder.
n.
Any person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against an established rule, law, or custom. See anarch and nihilist.
You're really not an anarchist at heart Bob because you don't advocate death and destruction. You're a Libertarian...like Ron Swanson, and I can respect that.
But what these folks really are is the puppets of the true Anarchists. They are literally useful idiots. And in case anyone reading this doesn't know;
Useful idiot
In political jargon, a useful idiot is a derogatory term for a person perceived as propagandizing for a cause without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and who is cynically used by the cause's leaders.
These are the paid rioters/looters. And because these people are normally light on education they don't realize that historically they are the first one's killed after a revolution. The Nazi's did it with the Brown Shirts and the communists always do this because they don't want radicals hanging around after the dirty work has been done. But because these folks don't understand history they don't realize that they are indeed 'useful idiots'.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

Re: Chicago and St. Louis
There are two ends of the political spectrum. The far left is socialism, whether communism or fascism (i.e. national socialism). Two branches of the same tree which is total government control i.e. totalitarianism. The far right is no government control or anarchy i.e. no rule of law.
The Democrats had moved far to the left, closer and closer to socialism which they have embraced as the goal. Lenin said "the goal of socialism is communism."
The Republicans have moved left of center in the last 40 years advocating bigger and bigger government as well. They can't help it, they need to be in power and control. What's interesting is what used to be dead center of the spectrum (i.e. constitutionalists) is now considered the far radical right by the mainstream media.
Libertarians are of course right of center.
Anarchists want no govt, no rule of law and the only way to accomplish that is to tear down existing order. Only achievable through violence.
No doubt what you are seeing in Portland, Chicago and other places is a well orchestrated movement of communists using anarchists to tear down order in order to move their agenda forward.

Re: Chicago and St. Louis
We made a trip to St. Louis on Thursday, daughter had a doctor's appointment for new hearing aids. We discussed between COVID and the unrest we hadn't been in downtown St. Louis for months.
Normally we see lots of police and there are always security guards all over the place. We didn't see a single police officer. We parked in the parking garage, walked into the hospital and where there is normally a security guard posted right inside the entrance, none to be found. We walked through the building and to the floor for the doctor. Came back out after the appointment, never seen a guard anywhere, which on ever other visit, we have always ran into them.
Just found it very interesting that we seen none anywhere,

I wonder if Security was removed completely or they just didn't want to be visible? As for police, well let's just say I'm glad I retired.

Re: Chicago and St. Louis
I would be curious to know also.
I missed the retirement notice. Did a quick search and see that you are finally enjoying the fruit of your labor. Glad you were able to get to this point and get out while the getting was good.

Re: Chicago and St. Louis
Thank you. January 19th was my last day of duty and April 11th was my last official day and date of retirement. I've been so blessed that honestly, and I don't mind sharing this, I some times tear up a bit. Wife loves it and we've enjoyed my retirement immensely.

Re: Chicago and St. Louis
Interesting and concerning article.
The cry had been, you don't need firearms just call the police.
Now the cry is the police is bad, you don't need the police.
Hence firearm sales are going through the roof as people are left with two choices, surrender to the violence and hope for the best or defend yourself because no one else will.
