Watching some of the videos that have been released, the power of the storm is always amazing along with the surge of water.

So, is everyone still alive down there? My guess internet and power are both spotty at best and may not hear from you all for a few days.

Saw one video that was funny... guy was floating in an inflatable pool in living room with 6 ft of water... took time to make a TicTok so prob was safe.

It was basically just a couple of rainy days with some wind gusts. We were out of the cone pretty early yesterday morning so we just got the upper and upper left bands which are less strong than the upper right quadrant. I'm glad we put the shudders up though for peace of mind. Took all of the first floor down today. Three left on the 2nd floor. It was just a bit too windy for me to feel comfortable going on the roof and holding a big piece of aluminum. Fortunately we never lost power. Lots of folks did though.
Prayers for those south of us though. Saw one of the stationary news cameras in Port Charlotte that was 500 feet from the beach and 12 feet high on a poll. It went underwater! Storm surge is just one of the really scary things. Can't stop it, can't fight it.

Wow, That was close... A lot of puckered butts here, everyone real thankful and preying for people Ian stomped on.
I call this the hurricane essentials:

You look well prepared. I know my wife would want the fan going. We have battery powered fans just to make sure she always has a fan.
