So, changing up the defense plan a bit...

Post by Bob »

I have decided to make a few changes etc to the weapons of choice:

#1 My HK USP stays and will always stay #1. Full size, Federal 128 +p with a mag and a spare. It's my best best shooter, or at least what I shoot best. Need a new holster for this as the rail adapter makes my Blackhawk rig useless (grrr)

#2 Moving up is my Springfield XD 45 full size. 13 rds of .45acp thump. Perhaps my best shooting gun. I am upgrading it with an O-light mini Valkyrie, so gonna see what O-light is all about. It has a holster, with a rail for the light, twin mag holder, etc. So a ready to go gun with 26 rounds on hand for use in the dark. Accessories for SHTF carry. I have a thigh rig for it as well.

#3 My Walther is an easy backup choice. in 9mm

#4 FOr an extra gun - the .357 is a reserve piece of artillery. Only 6 rounds, but an impressive 6!

What do you mean it is staying #1? Does this mean that it is your EDC carry? Or is the Walther PPS your EDC carry?

I'm assuming the .45 is your go-to HD pistol? Night stand gun? As far as the O-light Valkyrie I think you'll be pleased. Very bright, very light.

HK is home/Nightstand
PPS is carry

the .45 is my goto if I need to hand the HK to someone, HK goes down (like that could happen...), I feel the need for a second full size gun, etc.

I pretty happy with my decision to make the HD pistols one specific platform (Glock). Other roles will either be HK or the P365.

OK - HD is Glock
365 is obviously carry

What is the HK? Be cool, stylish and sophisticated? Operator mode? Car Defense? Zombie Warfare?

Glock for the HD role seemed like the obvious and best choice. Simple point-n-shoot platform and the highest capacity pistols I have. The 19X is 20-rounds and the 19, 22 and 26 are all 16-rounds (G26 has a G19 mag and Xgrip).

The P365 is living up to the game-changer mantra. Small, light and lots of capacity options.

For the HK's, the USPc 40 is also in the carry role in case I just want to have a 40 instead of the P365. At some point I thought about getting a Gen 5 G23 and making it a 3-n-1 pistol but looking at the thickness of the slide I no longer have much interest in that route. I feel I'm better off with the USPc as it has features that I simply prefer over the G23 for a carry pistol (hammer-fired, de-cocker/safety, built specifically for the 40 cartridge).

The P2000 40 S&W (and also has a 357sig barrel) and the USP 45 will both be in the woods carry role depending on how I feel that day. The P2000 gives me back up to the USP in those two calibers (as well as the G22) and the USP 45 gives me access to that caliber.
