Listening to police scanner app, currently tuned into Kenosha. Reports coming in a person's vehicle was attacked by the protesters, now he is coming after them with a gun.

Getting reports of people sitting in their driveways with tactical vest and rifles guarding their property.

Sounds like people are tired of waiting for the police to get control and starting to take matters into their own hands.

News helicopters were over my area this morning, actually went over my backyard while I was out in the garden. Figured something was up. Found out later the S.O. was at the mall blocking entrances, presumably to prevent looting. The mall is literally across a four lane road from my subdivision. I could leave my front door and be in the parking lot of the mall in five minutes on foot. Situational awareness will be taken up a notch this evening.

Stay safe David. Thankfully, we have a large river between us and St. Louis. Being on the edge of the metro area sometimes pays off.

St. Louis had 4 officers shot last night. This is taking a turn for the worst. Government is going to have to decide, do we abandon these communities and let them burn or do we come with overwhelming force? We can't ask the officers to just stand there and be human targets.

Nothing new. 45 years ago, people knew not to ever stop in East St. Louis. In effect, government does abandon communities - all over the world.

Nothing new. About 10 years ago, a girl friend living in a nice neighborhood with fence and locked gates had two guys trying to break in through the kitchen door. Called LAPD multiple times. Finally, they came. I then gave her a revolver and fifty rounds which she still has. Oh, the guys were never charged with any crime.

The reality is that civilization is a thin veneer over or within a community. You are on your own, but you don't want to accept it. Sorry for the officers' plight.

My dad lived in Vidalia, LA in the 20s and 30s. He said that there seemed to be a murder every Saturday night. So, you focus on controlling your local surroundings and wish good luck to others. There is no magic formula for turning asshats, wife beaters, meth heads into productive citizens.

Well, I am home from the cabin and am just getting caught up with all this stuff. Just talked to my son who lives in the Wicker Park area of Chicago and manages a pizza restaurant. Rioting within two blocks of his apartment and the the stores next to the restaurant (they were open for take out/delivery) were looted while he was watching.

He said 5 car loads of guys came down the street, two cars blocked the street at either end. The guys got out with plastic tubs and hit the FootLocker, AT&T store and a couple more. They then came to him wanting to buy slices and use the bathroom in his restaurant while he was on the phone calling the cops. There bathrooms and inside service has been closed /no slices. He thought about it for a second then let them use the bathrooms. They used them, went back outside got in their cars and left. He was pretty sure they were gang bangers, that they were organized and systematic. He heard them talking on the phone with other crews doing the same thing. He and the owner boarded up the restaurant yesterday. I told him to GTF out of Chicago. He said he's staying but has a bug out bag ready JIC. Scary stuff.

My other son and his wife live in Grand Rapids MI. That city got hit Sat/Sun night with riots. They live about a mile from downtown but both work at the hospital downtown. He is armed to the teeth and he and his neighbors stood a vigil on their block the last couple nights. I told him to bug out if things got too close. His in-laws live out in the boonies about 45 mins away. He is prepared.

This is a great example of "bug out" where go live in the woods out of a bag is just stupid.

You need critical documents, priceless stuff, and changes of clothing. Go to a hotel in a casual area.

Florida sheriff urges residents to shoot looters who break into their homes

https://www.nydailynews.com/news/nation ... tJku4rwynQ

This is Sheriff Grady Judd, one of the most popular Sheriff's in the country. He doesn't take any crap. Years ago, during a traffic stop, a wanted felon killed a Deputy, killed the K9 and wounded another Deputy in Polk county. A massive manhunt ensued. The suspect was caught out in the woods/swamp. I have no doubt he was executed in a hail of gun fire. He was shot 83 times. When asked by a reporter at the news conference why they had to shoot the guy 83 times, Sheriff Judd replied they only shot him 83 times because they ran out of bullets. No one said boo about it. Message sent; you don't kill Deputies in Polk county.

Was very glad to hear his speech about how to deal with the lowlife scumbags needing some heavy minerals located within themselves. Sure wish our Sarasota County Sheriff had a pair like yours. No BS/no shoot.
