Re: Shingles Suck

Her last outbreak was October. She gets her RA infusion every other month. Although, they are looking at changing her medication again. She has been referred to Washington University (part of the BJC Health System) to their specialist there to see if there is a better treatment plan she should be on.

Re: Shingles Suck

Sadly, my wife has had shingles at least a dozen times if not more. The joys of being on RA medicine.

When the outbreak starts, she gets on the Valtrex and it helps reduce the spread and the length of the outbreak.

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options

I wonder if you can actually make enough water to survive on with the above suggestion? I know the concept works, but never looked into how much water is created by that method. If you have several of those setups, then more doable. Yet, would one provide enough water for survival?

New vehicle

After looking for over a year, my wife finally found a truck that we purchased. It is used, 2023 F250 with just over 20K on the odometer. My wife spent most of the day negotiating back and forth with them on Friday and they came to an agreement Friday afternoon. It has the 6.7 Powerstroke HO. I had ...

Re: Power banks

Solare panels have advanced enough that we have clients that are switching out their current systems and installing the new panels. Assuming you mean roof mounted systems... Yes they have improved quite a bit. Still the pay back on costs is over ten years. Both. We do roof mounts but we also do gro...

Re: Homestead, the movie

Wife and nieces went and saw it. They enjoyed it. The wife downloaded the Angel app (I think that is what it is) and started watching the series.

Re: Might get to use some of those preps

We ended up with 10 inches of snow and a little over an inch of sleet. Nephews came over with their atvs and snow plows on them and cleared the driver and sidewalks, which was greatly appreciated. Now, we are dealing with the cold. Yet, that is winter in the Midwest.

Might get to use some of those preps

We are smack dap in the path of the major winter storm. Be interesting to see how it plays out. According to the NWS just a few miles separate us from having 10+ inches of snow to having over half inch of ice. Currently, we are on the snow side, yet drive 20 minutes to south and they are supposed to...

Re: Your advice to someone starting to prep in 2024?

You can't prepare for everything, start preparing for what is most common.

We followed that logic and over the years, our preparations have grown to the point that we are prepared for many things and not just the initial power outage that started down this path.
