Re: Flashlights for extended power outages
I've converted all of my Maglites from incandescent bulbs over to the Niteize LED conversion. Got them from HFT with the 20% coupon so they were only around $7. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be selling that product anymore. Haven't seen it in their stores or on the website. Too bad. It is the o...

Re: Flashlights for extended power outages
What lights are you using? What caused the adapters not to fit?

Flashlights for extended power outages
Currently mine are: Maglite ML300 3D cell - has a good amount of throw on high, runs near forever in ”eco”mode on alkaline D’s. Maglite ML25 2C cell – great little light with a very useful beam pattern and a bunch of throw, the latest version has a low mode for lots of run time. A great value at $20...

Re: DIY Small Survival kit
It's a whistle:
....just used it to wrap some Spider wire fishing line around and to store a set of SAK tweezers.
The ear plugs are just in case I want to do some shooting or are around load noises.

Re: Gerber LMF II
I think the LMF II was originally intended as Gerber’s entry into the trials for a new aircrew survival knife to replace the old Air Force bolt knife- I think the military decided to go with Ontario’s entry, but never really purchased enough to replace the old bolt knives. These knives were intended...

Cold Steel SF Shovel
The P38 can opener may be the US Army’s greatest invention, but I think the MPL-50 shovel is got to be the Red Army’s greatest (OK it was actually based on a Danish design from the late 1860’s, but it is an outstanding bit of kit, even if the Russians didn’t really invent it). These are great Etools...

Re: Gerber LMF II
I almost got an LMF II, but went with the prodigy instead mainly because it is lighter. The prodigy is an OK knife, but not really my thing. The serrated edge cut real well but I had to do some serious re-profiling to get the plain edge portion to cut., would have been better if they went with a ful...
