Re: Flashlights for extended power outages
Anyone looking for long-running lantern should consider the BLF Lantern. You can buy it from a number of places but here's a link to the manufacturer where you can see what the specs are https://sofirnlight.com/products/blf-lt1-lantern?_pos=1&_sid=41bfcf3b3&_ss=r&variant=31483031355452 I...

Re: Current Ammo Stocks
For factory rounds I have 1,000 45, 1,000 40, 2,000 9mm, 200 38/357, 5,000 22lr, 500 12 gauge, and 1,500 5.56. Not a whole lot but that's supplemented by about 10,000 reloads in .45, 40, 9mm and 38/357 split pretty much equally. Pretty sure nobody is going to care if what's coming at them is a 45 Go...

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options
A deficiency in the Aquatabs is that it's ineffective against Cryptosporidium. From Aquatabs website at https://www.aquatabs.ca/faq.html . They say it's not common but in a disaster situation I would consider all water sources suspect and assume Crypto is present in the water. Are Aquatabs water pur...

Re: Sig
My 220 and 226 fit the same holsters so I'm not sure why yours didn't. They're older ones (stamped metal) so maybe something changed with later ones? Their DA/SA are fine but my 229 trigger is not nearly as good.

Re: Smallest caliber you'd feel comfortable carrying?
I'd be concern with carrying a 22LR just because of the higher odds of having a misfire. Seems like I always have a few not go off whenever I'm out on the range.

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options
As for the chlorine dioxide I have a bunch of the Katadyn Micropur MP1 tablets and some bottles of Aquamira chlorine dioxide water treatment bottles but I bought those before I bought the potableaqua device. I keep them around as a just in case kind of things since they don't take up much room.

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options
I am using Hydrogen Peroxide created by this device https://www.potableaqua.com/products/pa-pure-electrolytic-water-purifier/ Easy to use and the only takes water and salt of one form or another to make the solution. I have many packets of table salt packed away with it since it's easier than having...

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options
Yeah...luckily they are easily filtered out with any 0.2 - 0.3 filter. Hydrogen Peroxide and Chlorine Dioxide will kill Crypto so that's what I recommend to my friends as a backup instead of Iodine or other Chlorine based treatment. With filtered water they will all kill the remaining viruses but on...

Re: Water filtration/disinfection/purification options
Anyone concerned about viruses? I usually Steri-pen my water which deactivates all pathogens but plan to drop chemicals into filtered water after a disaster when I need large quantities of water. Basically filter water into containers using a 0.2 micron filter to remove non-viruses, and then add che...
