He was a reserve Officer. Probably working a simple off-duty detail.

Also this region of Florida have several Top 20 agencies in the country. Personnel come from out-of-state to learn our methodology, training and procedures. Additionally, Florida training is among the highest and most intense in the nation.

Wow, when I read that he was 69 I was a little surprised.

It will be interesting to see if they settle this out of court or go through the process and then the records could be open to look at.

I'm 66 and a former LEO. Even though I'm in good shape and well trained in FA, firearms and self defense I wouldn't work even as a reserve officer anywhere. At that/my age you have no business being active in LE.

Having said that, it could be the the P320 have a false cocking set. Perhaps a burr or something that holds the striker back when cocked but releases after being bumped. It could just be a defect in that particular gun or a design flaw in the model. Or it could be that guy was fingering the trigger while walking around.
