I was looking at Mr. Buyers ' edc light and decided that I needed, finally, to learn about 21700 batteries. In the background I had been looking for a 2 18650 flashlight . . .

The 21700 offerings appear to offer a quantum leap in flashlights.

So I’m assuming a 21700 won’t fit in an 18650 light like a BLF A6 or Convoy S2+?

That is correct, the 21700 is 21 mm in diameter and 70 mm long. The 18650 is 18 mm in diameter and 65 mm long. the 21700 battery is about 380 cubic mm larger.

Sounds like a fairly substantial upgrade in a light that is only little larger. I'm pretty set into 18650 so I don't see switching any time soon. But you never know, may be interesting to get a sample.

I have a lot of 18650 laptop pulls that seem to be working well. Also a fair supply of purchased 18650 batteries. Probably around the 2600 mAh.

I blew up one laptop trying to salvage the batteries.

Yes, I am set on 18650 batteries. Own quite a few now.

One of my mentors advised that he did not buy a new ____(fill in the blank) unless the new product worked 10% better than what it would replace.
The 18650 works for me in the various applications.

Yes, the technology advances.
1. I still have a container with Maglights and salvaged pieces. I might have gifted them away by now if there weren't plastic D battery units that could use AA batteries.
2. I will be giving away some of the odd ball flashlights for preschool relatives for their bedrooms. They live in earthquake country.
3. I would be taking some flashlights, chargers and batteries to my son on the east coast in 2020, but there is a problem with transporting them in an airliner. Most of those are 123a related. Some of those batteries are still good after 15 years!

I am sitting in the camp of having several 26650 devices and lights, I am also sitting on around 50~ish 18650s from battery pulls.

I am not going to can the 18650s just yet, more than likely I will Keep those lights and devices but I am kinda excited by longer run time and "more powah!"

Astrolux has been hitting home runs recently as they have adapters for 21700 and 18650 for lights designed for 26650.
