"It" being irrational panic by people who didn't learn a thing last spring EVEN THOUGH the media has been spinning fear stories non-stop, while having to get more and more creative with their reported doom numbers.

1. the number of commercial vacancies is appalling. residential vacancies are starting to appear.
2. shortages in paper goods, once again.

We went to Aldi yesterday and noticed somewhat of a TP shortage (at least the brand we used). Didn't check Costco but would imagine maybe the same thing. Other stuff seemed to be fine. Didn't seem to be unusually busy. Probably an ebb and flow sorta thing right now until things kick off, I'm thinking in the very near future.

Continue stocking while you can.

If the vaccine works, and Biden wins, and the world keeps turning....great. You'll use stuff up eventually.

Paper goods are rationed again. No gallons of isopropyl on the shelves in the last few months. Dining outside banned statewide. However, the governor and 50 people ate indoors (violation) in a restaurant last week. Many empty store fronts now.

Yes Bob, you are absolutely correct. There are 49 other states. I choose to live here. I manage to do that because in January 2020, I stocked up for a minimum of 6 months and bought extra in case mooching relatives came bye. And when the skies turned blue and the traffic lights appeared to be green, people stopped hording and went out to eat.

Given my research of epidemics over the years (and sister who was the chairperson of Epidemiology at a major university and that my grandfather died in 1918), I knew that if it ran its course, it would come in waves over 3 years. So, I went out and stocked up again.

In the other forum that I think you participated in, one guy was taking his camper van to go live in slab city, Arizona - a very bad move if you are familiar with the location. Another guy who worked in the labs for 40 years sheltered in place with his wife and was big on half face masks. They both got it.

If I were multimillionaire and moved, there is no guarantee that the local powers that be would not be as crazy as my governor and the Los Angeles Public Health people. In a Chicago study, 80% of the deaths (assuming that the statistics are accurate) were of people with at least two serious underlying medical conditions. Kids were not dying in droves like in 1918. People without serious underlying medical conditions also seemed to survive. Older people are not moved out of convalescent facilities and this is where most of the deaths are happening. So, it isn't a matter of contracting the disease and dying, I am just reporting on the local conditions.
