Just a thought....One advantage of diversification is that it teaches you to use different platforms that you may run across. Single action autos are different than double action vs. striker fired vs. revolvers etc. etc. Different guns requires a different manual of arms. Knowing how to operate an AR vs. AK vs. an M1 garand/M1 carbine/Mini 14 or an HK91/FN FAL/ bull pups, pump, bolt and lever guns is an advantage. So having a bunch of different guns could be more beneficial than having a bunch of the same gun.

For several years I was really on a B/S/T kick. I know...shocking

But I'm glad I did because I now have a lot more experience than I did even a few years ago. How to detail strip different platforms was practical knowledge. And of course it was a lot of fun.

Owning one type of gun is boring. Variety is the spice of life.

Edited to add... Having said that...there is a value to uniformity. A common platform aids in training, maintenance and logistics (i.e, parts and ammo). There is a reason why police, military etc consolidate to a common single platform. That makes sense for organizations but is not really necessary for individuals.

First - go deep, then go wide. Continue to go deeper and wider over time! This is not an either or. There are no rules. Do what you want or can afford.

Go deep first. If you have four guns you have two more than you really need. Better to have bullets, and practice ammo with what you know, love, and will use.

But after that - then go wide. I have at times even had .40 and .223 when I didn't own them. Why? Odds were good of anyone I might know needing them.

Now I sport .22, .38/.357, 9mm, .40, .45, 5.56, 7.62x39, 12g and 30-06. I feel comfortable with both the breadth and depth of all. I could go deeper with .40, .45 and .30-06 but I just don't feel the need.

.22, 9mm, 12g, and 7.62x39 are my main 3. Very deep on those. But deep enough on the rest.

Again - 200rds should get you through more SHTF than you can actually survive.
