I checked my trail cameras when I went back up to the house over the weekend. A couple nice bucks were hanging around mostly late at night of early in the morning, including a big 10 pointer. Hunted from Thurs night to Sunday (last) night, didn't see any deer. The thing about deer is you never know when they are going to show up. While they mostly move around in the evenings and early morning they can show up any time, any where. Still takes a lot of luck to be in the right place at the right time.

Just spent 5 days at the hunting property got home last night. It was 63 degrees yesterday though was only 27 on Friday morning. Still seeing deer on the trail cams, nothing in real life. Bummer, but we did eat some venison steaks from my doe on Saturday and have eating venison sausage and meat sticks all week.

Bow season runs until Monday Nov 15 when Firearm deer season begins. I'll be back up on Thursday and then hunt all next week with my brothers.

I'll try to remember to bring the trail cam pics home of the big guy. Better yet, I'll try to bring the big guy home.

Opening day was Monday. My 3 brothers were up, two went home yesterday. One today. My son comes up tomorrow.

Score so far is one brother got a 4 pt buck another a doe. I passed on a doe and a spike horn.

I did see the big guy going over a ridge on the other side of the ravine 150 yards away on opening day. Moving fast through thick woods. No shot. Haven't seen him since. I'm here until Sunday so there's still time.

I'm home after spending 9 days in the field. It was fun having my brothers up at the new house this year. A lot more comfortable than the old, tiny rustic cabin. We had fun but hunted all day, every day despite an occasional hangover.

I Automatically woke up at 5:30 this morning. :)

Didn't see the big guy again after the first day. My son came up and hunted the weekend. I saw 3 doe on Saturday morning but that's about it. Home for a few days then heading to Florida on Sat for a cruise ship on Sunday. Will likely go back north when I get home to hunt the muzzleloading season. I have a muzzle loading barrel for my Mossberg 500. It's pretty accurate.

Interesting... didn't know they had a muzzle load barrel for the 500... not to pricey either.

Not sure if they still make them but you can sometimes find them on ebay. When I bought mine new it was about $100. Uses 209 shotgun primers for ignition. I use power pellets and 50 cal saboted 45 cal bullets.

Anyone interested in buying one. I still have a new one from old stock for sale. Will sell for $125.00 shipped to the lower 47. Nothing to Alaska, Hawaii, or Commiefornia.
