n. Absence of any form of political authority.
n. Political disorder and confusion.
n. Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.
A man cannot call himself peaceful if he is not capable of violence. If he's not capable of violence he isn't peaceful, he is harmless. There is a distinct difference.

My guess is that anyone trapped inside that Seattle zone, would be 100% in their right to start killing those running the zone. Those running the zone has declared that this area is no longer under the control of the US or State/local authorities. As such, they are declared invaders of the United States and every US Citizen has the right to us lethal force to defend the Nation.

Agreed. Particularly if they are trying to prevent you from leaving or conducting business as they would be violating your Constitutional rights.

I see Altana is now burning. From what I read, the I can see how the officers would be justified in using deadly force.

When did it become legal to drive intoxicated, resist arrest, take an officer's tazer, run from the officers. and then appear to use potentially deadly force against them?

I don't care what color you are, if you play stupid games, you are going to lose.

Stop breaking the laws and you won't get shot.

Yet, before I pass complete judgement, I will wait for the full investigation to come out. Although by then, the criminal will have Atlanta burnt to the ground and the stores all loited.

I only heard about it last night before going to bed. I do not know the full story, only some particulars. With that said, Dan Bongino had a good analyst on Fox last night and I agree with him on several points:
  • The bad guy had the Officer's taser. I will assume the Officer did not hand it to him as a gift. I will assume that the bad guy resisted arrest, there was a struggle and that the bad guy took the taser from the Officer.
  • From the report I heard, the bad guy then aimed the taser at the Officer's face. Again, I do not know the specifics but understand there was a foot chase and the bad guy turned and aimed the taser at the Officer.
  • The bad guys lawyers are making an issue that the taser is less-than-lethal so deadly force was not warranted. This is misleading. The taser is considered less-than-lethal. However, and this is true of any/all agencies that I'm familiar with, Officers can legally exceed the level of force offered, usually by one level. Some call it the Force Matrix, some the Force Continuum. Regardless, Police are not required to meet force with equal force i.e. someone tries to punch them they are not required to get into a boxing match. Someone tries to stab them they are not required to pull out a knife. A taser is designed to temporarily incapacitate an individual. It hurts. It can cause permanent damage depending on where the probes hit. And it will put you in a position where you are unable to defend yourself or retain your weapon or other equipment. Thus the level above incapacitation force is deadly force.
Again, best to wait for all the details to fully come out. However, if the above holds true the Officer(s) were justified in using deadly force. Protesting before the full details comes out is idiotic. Rioting/looting is simply criminal activity using this event as cover.

Let's see, we still have quite a bit to get through before the end of the year...
  • Covid Zombies
  • Yellowstone erruption
  • Asteroid strike
  • Alien invasion
  • Undead
  • Velociraptors
2020 is the gift that keeps on giving and we're just getting this party started!

I saw the Atlanta film. Tough call in my opinion.

At the point the guy draws the taser...I can see the ability to use deadly force being justified: Potential weapon to disable officers. Struggle active.
At the point the guy is running away...I think deadly force no longer appropriate. Guy with taser 30 yards away not a threat. You have his car. You'll find him.

But the guy absolutely went off on the officers. Lethality, while it should not be an issue, will be. I tend to be on the side of "don't take a taser to a gun fight"

But that right there is the very issue.

There are a lot of laws where getting shot is completely wrong. Yet, people get shot.

And there are more laws that a criminal should be shot over.

When criminals have more rights than the victims, the system is broken.
