The Marlin 94 in 44 mag I bought from him a few years ago had the barrel/tube shortened to 16". He has access to a machine shop at work and knows what he's doing. He does a good job. It's a tack driver and I've taken two deer with it. It's a handy little rifle.

I wish more companies put thought into barrel lengths. Too many tend to go for extra length when it's not needed. The 357 tends to actually slow down if you go past 16", but many companies do 18+. I saw you post your H&R 44mag with the 24" barrel. That's just crazy for a handgun round.
A 16" is so much handier and keeps things reasonable if you're putting a suppressor on it.

Actually I think the 44 is 22" but you're right, that's way too long. As for the 357, I can confirm by my chronograph that bullet out of the 16" H&R barrel are actually faster than the same ammo out of the 18" Timberwolf.
