After the private company, Gerber, was sold in 1987, quality control became questionable/sporadic/unacceptable to me. I stopped buying Gerber knife products. And, yes, I switched to Spyderco.

I have a Native III that I love.

Knives are candy to me. So small, so many options. Perfect knives are awesome, but honestly, a decent one is 99% as functional IMO. Yeah - gerber may not be what it used to be. So what - works far better than I do - like most guns.

There are so many knives sold in this country I wonder where they all go.
