The list will also include scanners of all types.

From standard uhf/vhf to trunking and apco digital triple trunking scanners.I have a rs 164 3x trunking a bc 855 a bc396 digital x4 a rs 2046/147. We have cbs in all vehicles and a base station at both houses.I've found in weather related outages a scanner can let folks know whats going on and how to avoid it.

In a good event it'll let you know where the traffic/roadblocs/wrecks are at.IMHO,ham users/leo ect are the best source of info.Avoid ems/t and fd,they babble worse than old women.'08. Tongue

One of my favorite handheld scanners is an older Yupiteru Mvt-7000 Scanner.

It does cover from am radio up to about 2.7 ghz. It works on AM/FM/CW/SSB.
I really like it in that it runs on regular AAs and has a 12v dc input ( to me off grid this is important as 12v dc is easy to do with a small solar panel and rechargeable/regular AAs are easy to get )

Down side at this point is the lack of digital jumping for freqs, but imo still not a major problem.

Yes! There’s a FM radio in your phone… but they don’t let you use it. David 0 1,188 09-06-2015, 03:15 PM
