This project is working, though it is slow at the moment.  The bin has produced some BSF larvae that I've feed to the quail.  And there are more growing in the compost.  If this really starts to produce I'll add a bin.  Not sure how the cold weather will affect the bin, but normally we don't have a lot of really cold days here.

Well the first bin has been producing a small number of larvae.  Haven't seen any in the second bin (yet) but as this is my long work weekend (go to work in the dark and come home in the dark) I haven't checked it in a couple of days.  The quail do seem to enjoy the ones that the bins are producing.

First bin continues to produce larvae though I'd like to see the amount increase substantially.  Hopefully I just need to add more scrapes.  I tweaked the second bin so we'll see if that starts yielding any larvae.  I'm getting maggots out of that one, very small ones but no BSF larvae yet.  If it doesn't work I may relocated it to another part of the yard to see if it gets better results.

The bin that I have from post #1 is going well.  Yesterday got a pretty good handful and the quail were excited for them when I tossed them in with their dirt bath.

I've started collecting the quail droppings into a bin to compost for later use in the garden.  The BSF larvae seem to love the quail crap!  Seem to always be able to get a handful out of the bin as well.

The bin that I set up like post #6 seems to be working...I hope.  Did see one fly in there the other day and the containers do have larvae in them.  As long as I can keep it moist I think they should really start hatching and multiplying.
