Food grade means it will not leech out anything into what is stored in it.  It also means it is not for long term storage, as food typically is not stored for a long time. They are not designed to be study for long term.

We've got a ton of buckets that are 10-15yrs old,never had a failure.'08.
If you look like food,you will be eaten.

Hooked one rain barrel and rerouted one gutter spout to feed an herb garden I built this weekend. Now it won't rain for weeks... guaranteed
